In this study it was analyzed the effect of etheric, methanolic and aqueous extracts of the five strains Nostoc muscorum in the germination of sporangia of Bremia lactucae Regel in vitro in an epiphyte of Lactuca sativa var capitata cv galician in an intensive horticultural area of Florencio Varela, La Capilla, Argentina (34º50’ South Latitude 58º06’ West Longitude). The 60a strain promoted the germination of sporangia whereas the 40g inhibited it.Rationale: Lettuce (lactuca sativa) represents one of most important crops from Buenos Aires province. The disease produced by Bremia lactucae , a biotrophic Oomycetes, on L. sativa, cause significant economic losses in the affected farms. Taking into account previous reports about biological activity of Nostoc muscorum, we decided to evaluate the response of B. lactucae to different extracts from N. muscorum. A randomized plant pathology study of 150 plants of the cultivated plot showed an incidence of 100% and a severity of 9, 9 leaves/plant and 13, 8 dm2 of leaf/plant surface area during the 91 days.Downloads
