About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Agronomía & Ambiente (Agronomy and Environment), previously known as Revista de la Facultad de Agronomia, is a journal of scientific, technical and professional original publications, published every six months. It seeks to disseminate scientific and academic work about Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, encompassing Basic Sciences, Animal and Plant Production, Agricultural Economics, Soil Science, Agroecology, Agricultural Mechanization, Plant Health, Education in Agricultural Sciences, Landscape Design and Planning and General Training. This publication is aimed at Agronomists, Environmental Sciences graduates, Biologists, Chemists, Zootechnicians, Food Technicians and professionals related to the Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Agronomía & Ambiente will publish original articles and brief communications from national and foreign authors. Original studies must be submitted according to the instructions below. Submission and publication is free of charge.

Articles may be submitted in Spanish or English, within one of the following categories:

(a) Research articles: correspond to works resulting from original scientific research, scientifically appropriate and that brings new knowledge to the discipline.

b) Articles of bibliographic review and/or updates, these are revisions of specific aspects of current or emerging topics, relevant to discipline.

(c) Brief notes or communications: correspond to reports resulting from scientific research, to communicate preliminary results of a more restricted scope than research work.

d) Technical notes: this is the concise description of an original and innovative, research-based technique, development, procedure or device that tends to provide a solution to a problem relevant to professional practice.

e) Opinion articles and reviews: these are informed comments on current affairs or book or undergraduate or graduate thesis reviews.

Articles that have been presented at Congresses, Symposia and Conferences or published as abstracts or short communications will be accepted for publication, a situation that must be indicated at the bottom of the first page of the article, leaving its publication under the consideration of the Editor Committee and the External Associate Editors.

Peer Review Process

Submitted work is subject to acceptance and acknowledging receipt of the manuscript does not necessarily imply publication. Manuscripts will be evaluated through a peer review process by two referees outside the Agronomy School at Buenos Aires University,  who will be appointed by one of the external Associate Editors. In the case of discrepancy between the editors' evaluations, the external Associate Editor may request a third opinion, or make the final decision himself. The whole evaluation process is confidential and is a double-blind review; that is, authors and reviewers are anonymous to each other. After peer reviewing, authors will receive an email indicating whether their manuscript has been accepted or rejected. The Editor has the right to editorial review.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides open access to its content, based on the principle that giving the public free access to research helps a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Agronomía & Ambiente considers that it is important to agree on standards of expected ethical behavior with all parties involved in the act of publication: the author, the editor, the peer reviewer and the editor. The editor will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of articles where investigative misconduct has occurred.

Agronomía & Ambiente supports the guidelines on conduct and good practices for COPE (Committee of Publication Ethics) publications. For this reason, it guarantees the confidentiality of the evaluation process and adheres to the commitment not to publish any work that has a component of plagiarism, self-plagiarism or fraud. In the event that some of these elements are detected in any text, it will be removed from the publication.

Journal History

Agronomía & Ambiente (Agronomy and Environment), was previously known as Revista de la Facultad de Agronomía -ISSN: 0325-9250-. The Revista de la Facultad de Agronomía was founded in 1980 and, since then, published a total of 31 volumes, composed of two or three issues each in printed format. Scientific works were focused mainly on agronomic topics.
On September 27, 2011, the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Buenos Aires decided to change the name of this journal to Agronomy & Environment. Thus, Agronomy & Environment is the continuation of the journal Revista de la Facultad de Agronomía. The main objectives of this new version are i) the communication, diffusion and discussion of scientific, technical and professional advances of interest not only agronomic but also environmental issues, ii) the re-organization of the peer review process, including reviewers recognized as a worldwide experts from the different disciplines both in Argentina and abroad, iii) implement the electronic version of the journal and iv) include it in the Basic Nucleus of Argentine Scientific Journals-CAICYT (https://www.caicyt-conicet.gov.ar/sitio/comunicacion-cientifica/nucleo-basico/). To date, ten volumes have been published consisting of two issues each in print and digital format. Since 2013 it is published only in digital format.
