Ecosystem services: a travel through natural benefits

Numerous studies have been developed to address the issue of ecosystem services. In this case, we present a review of the scope of these works worldwide. In order to do this, we review the evolution of its definition and classification. Moreover, we show what methodological approaches are undertaken today to evaluate their provision in different ecosystems. Finally, we establish the relationship between ecosystems sustainability and their ability to provide ecosystem services. The exhibition and discussion of certain features present in this work are useful both as a baseline for future research design and to deepen on the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the study of ecosystem services provision.Downloads
